  • A manhunt was declared in northern Thailand on Thursday after at least 30 people, including children, were killed in a gun and knife attacks on a day care center in northern Thailand, authorities said.
  • Police said the suspect was an ex-officer.  Adults and children were among those killed by the attacker.
  • The government spokesman said all agencies were on alert and taking action to apprehend the killer before can escape to neighboring state.
  • Police released a photo of the suspect, who was last seen driving a white Toyota pickup truck with a Bangkok registration plate.
  • The rate of gun ownership in Thailand is high compared with some other countries in South-east Asia but official figures do not include huge numbers of illegal weapons, many of which have been brought in across porous borders from neighbors countries.
