Carlos Alcaraz vs. Casper Ruud form and betting trends

After showing plenty of promise in 2021, Alcaraz has quickly lived up to his potential in 2022.

While this will be his first Grand Slam final, the 19-year-old has played some exceptional tennis this year and won two Masters 1000 titles.

The Spaniard has also already beaten both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal to show he's ready to replace the duo at the top of the tennis pyramid.

Alcaraz had to dig deep to reach the US Open final and has been forced to five sets in his past three matches.

While Alcaraz has stolen the spotlight this year, Ruud has impressed relatively under the radar.

The 23-year-old made the French Open final in June but was overpowered by Nadal in the decider.

Ruud has won three ATP 250 titles in 2022 but all of those have been on clay.

The Norwegian has shown he can cut it on the hardcourt over the past fortnight though, and unlike Alcaraz, has dropped just two sets across his past three matches.

While Alcaraz is the firm betting favourite, Ruud has arguably been in better form at the US Open.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Casper Ruud preview and prediction

A Grand Slam final with more than just a title on the line as Alcaraz and Ruud look to become the new world number one.

While the likes of Medvedev and Nadal have stumbled at this year's US Open, the young duo have held firm and are deserved finalists.

Alcaraz has been pushed the hardest to make it this far and played the latest match in tournament history in the quarter-finals.

How the Spaniard copes with any lingering fatigue could be decisive witha fresher Ruud likely ready to pounce on any mistakes.

If Alcaraz can play to his full potental, however, it's hard to see the teenager not winning his first Grand Slam title.

Ruud will be hoping to grind out a quick victory but Alcaraz has shown time and again his ability to hang in and win points when they matter most.

Prediction: Alcaraz to defeat Ruud in five sets.

What time is Carlos Alcaraz vs. Casper Ruud?

Court times are an estimate and subject to change. The women's doubles final will be played on Arthur Ashe prior but is unlikely to cause any delay to the men's singles final.
