Four suspects arrested for breaking into former Nigerian first lady's home On Monday, the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt ordered the pre-trial detention of four suspected criminals at Port Harcourt Correctional Center on five counts of conspiracy, armed robbery and of attempted murder.
According to charges read out in court, Praise Gelson, Tamunoala Alatoru, Usman Garba and Christian Mbaeri are said to have broken into the home of former First Lady Dame Patience Goodluck-Jonathan at the Old GRA in Port Harcourt on September 21, 2022, robbing valuables worth millions of naira.
After the charges were read in court, the suspects pleaded not guilty. Dimabo Karibo, a lawyer representing the second defendant, Tamunoala Alatoru, requested bail for his client, which was denied by Prosecutor.
M Umana, who informed the court that the bail application was not served on him. The presiding judge, Judge Adolphus Enebeli, after hearing the arguments of the lawyers, promised a speedy and fair trial in the case after the court was overloaded.
