Ahead of the 2023 general election, governor Bala Mohammed of the state of Bauchi  warned the country's traditional rulers  against partisan politics. Mohammed delivered the warning  during the inauguration ceremony of the 12th Emir of Katagum, Dr. Umar Faruk II, held at the Adamu Saleh College of Education campus in Azare.

 to educate and educate their subjects about government programs and policies so that  people would appreciate and support government efforts to improve their welfare. 

The governor said Farouk II's accession to the throne comes at a time when the traditional institution is heavily influenced by modernity, urging him to be flexible and stay on the ball. with the dynamics of  society.
