Earlier, UNRWA reported that the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon have hit rock bottom and have reached a point of no return. Poverty, unemployment and desperation are present in high doses across the country and are seriously affecting the Lebanese people, Syrian and Palestinian refugees.
This comes amid one of the worst economic crises in recent history, compounded by the 2020 Beirut explosion, the COVID-19 pandemic, poor governance and a near-total breakdown in basic services. Palestinian refugees living in overcrowded camps are historically among the poorest people in the country.
You are at the end of the line. According to the latest UNRWA crisis report on the socio-economic situation of Palestine refugees in Lebanon, 93 percent of all Palestine refugees in Lebanon live in poverty.
While UNRWA has helped by providing cash and other essential services, our help is a drop in the bucket of desperation.
