Brigadier General MD Abumawashi, the commander 14 Brigade Nigeria Army "Good luck Ebele Jonathan Barracks" on Saturday 29th January 2022 hosted 2022 WASA, a Cultural celebration and annual ritual that attracts well-meaning Nigerians from far and near to the barracks. This event is an annual ritual and cultural celebration of the Nigerian Army. This year WASA recorded a huge success, which was attributed to new commander, Brig Gen MD Abumawashi, a season administrator with track records of success.
The Governor of Abia State Dr Okezie Ikpeazu was represented by the commissioner for utilities Hon Kingsley Emeaga. In his address, Brigadier General MD Abumawashi said WASA is among the rich traditions of the Nigerian army which promotes team spirit, esprit-de-corps and confidence within and outside the barracks Community, adding that it is also a forum for informal social interaction and an avenue for the barracks Community to showcase the various rich and diversified cultural endowments of our great nation. According to him, this significant regimental activity is held annually to signify the successful competition of training activities for the year and usher in 2022 training circle he said.
The commander noted that the 2021 training year has been quite eventful in the Nigerian army. Disclosed that all the training activities programmed for the year were successfully conducted as scheduled. He mentioned the various major field training exercises at formations level which includes the combat proficiency competition, senior non-commissioned officers and corporal and below inter brigade competitions, annual physical test and exercise Golden Daw which were all successfully conducted within the period under review.
He added that these exercises have significantly gone a long way in increasing combat efficiency in Abia State. The governor who was represented by his commissioner thanked the Nigerian army for their proactive nature which has made Abia State the safest state across the south east region, adding that the state government is ever ready to partner with the army in providing them with vehicles and other logistics as a way to encourage them in their sacrifice in ensuring a water tight security.
