The Iran national team overwhelmed Wales on Friday with two goals in injury time of their 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage match in Qatar to secure a 2-0 win minutes before the final whistle, Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey receiving a red card after him had strayed off the 's goal line and ended up colliding with Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi, who was in a hurry to score a potential goal.

Qatar will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup between November 20th and December 18th in eight stadiums in five cities across the country. 

The Iran national team overwhelmed Wales on Friday with two goals in injury time of their  2022 FIFA World Cup group stage match in Qatar to secure a 2-0 win minutes before the final whistle, Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey receiving a red card after him had strayed off the 's goal line and ended up colliding with Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi, who was in a hurry to score a potential goal. 

The goalkeeper's red card forced the Welshmen to play a man down for the rest of the game against the Iranians. 

Teams ended the 90-minute game with nothing but zeros on the scoreboard, and the game's chief referee  added nine minutes. In stoppage time, it was Iran's defensive midfielder Roozbeh Cheshmi who got a shot from around 20 minutes onwards. meters to lead his team  1-0 ahead of Wales. Minutes later, Cheshmi's teammate Ramin Rezaeian scored another goal for Iran who were 2-0 after the final whistle. 

Today's victory was the third victory for the Iranian at the four-yearly FIFA World Cup tournament. The Iranian football team took part in FIFA World Cups in 1978, 1998, 2006, 2014 and 2018, beating the United States in 1998 (2-1) and the Moroccan team  in 2018 (1-0).

The Iranian team has never made it past the group stage of the FIFA World Cup. This is also the second appearance of the Wales national team in the FIFA World Cup series. 

The Welsh team had already qualified for the 1958 World Cup and reached the quarter-finals of the championship before losing 1-0 to Brazil. FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup 2022 between November 20th and December 18th in eight stadiums in five cities across the country namely  Doha, Lusail, Al Wakrah, Al Khor and Al Rayyan. 

The eight host stadiums are: Al Bayt Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Lusail Iconic Stadium, Stadium 974, Education City Stadium and Al Janoub Stadium. 

The coveted World Cup trophy is hoisted. by one of 32 teams divided into eight groups. Group stage matches will be played at numerous arenas in Qatar between November 20th and December 2nd, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the playoffs. Qatar won the right to host matches for  FIFA World Cup 2022 on December 2, 2010. 

The championship began last Sunday with a scenic ceremony followed by the  opening match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador, which ended 2-0 in Ecuador's favour.

In March 2015, FIFA officially announced that the 22nd edition of the FIFA flagship event would be played in November and December  2022, with the final match scheduled for 18 December  2022, which coincides with Qatar's national day . 

The goal was basically to hold the tournament for 28 days. The previous FIFA World Cup was hosted by Russia in 2018. The championship was held in 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities, namely  Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Samara.

During an official ceremony in the Kremlin on July 15, 2018, in the presence of FIFA, Russian President Vladimir Putin handed over the baton of the host country of the FIFA World Cup to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani  President Gianni Infantino.
