Rishi Sunak Said I have Spoken The Truth For The Good of The Country
Leadership doesn't sell fairy tales. It faces challenges,” he exclaimed. Many challenges await Sunak as he tries to clean up the mess Truss wreaked during his 49 days in power, the shortest in British history. He has already accomplished a remarkable feat by becoming Britain's first black Prime Minister, a fact which Starmer acknowledges as "part of what makes us all proud to be British".

Rishi Sunak said, “I have spoken the truth for the good of the country. On Wednesday Britain saw the outlines of the forthcoming full election campaign after billionaire Rishi Sunak took office as the Sunak's third prime minister Conservative MEPs after the turbulence of the last few weeks. First Boris Johnson was ousted, after a scandal  MPs then voted  Sunak against Liz Truss as leader, only to be outvoted by party members who were mostly white, wealthy and from the south of England.

"The only time he ran in an election was he beaten by the former Prime Minister, who was also beaten by a salad," Labor leader Keir Starmer taunted Sunak in a fevered House of Commons. Truss suffered such a rapid political decline that she was survived by a salad celebrity on an online  Daily Star newspaper. In her last question to the Prime Minister a week ago, Truss  Starmer said she was "a fighter,  not a renunciator." sat in grim silence. The next day he resigned.

With Sunak now in charge after rejecting a brazen comeback offer from Johnson, the same Conservative MPs cheered and banged on the pews of the House of Commons, prompting Speaker Lindsay Hoyle to warn: "Do not damage the furniture! Sunak reminded Starmer that he was smitten by Truss because Tory members didn't believe his warnings about the economic carnage his tax-cut policies would cause, and he compared this to Starmer's own support for  far-left Jeremy Corbyn, who became Prime Minister , as Corbyn led to defeat Labor in the last election in 2019. "I spoke the truth for the good of the country," said the new Conservative leader, "he (Starmer) told his party what he wanted to hear."

Beyond those heartfelt words, Starmer has foreseen the  campaign rush that Sunak can expect after Labor identified the new leader's fabulous wealth as one of the greatest vulnerabilities in a time of financial crisis for many. Sunak is a former Goldman Sachs banker and hedge fund investor. His Indian wife's father, Akshata Murty, founded the Infosys business empire. Together, the couple is worth £730million ($847million), more than King Charles III in

, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. Starmer mentioned Murty's previous  tax status as "non-resident," which weighed on Sunak's popularity when it was revealed earlier this year.

He also referred to an election campaign video in which Sunak boasted about diverting government money from deprived areas to a wealthy corner of south-east England. A Starmer spokesman  said Labor focus groups  also met with deep disapproval from voters with another embarrassing ad in which Sunak struggled to understand how to pay with a debit card at a petrol station.

The accumulated image of a haute couture prime minister is so detached that he cannot be trusted to  identify with the struggles of ordinary Britons. The team must present a convincing rebuttal. National elections are scheduled for January 2025 at the latest, but could well be earlier if Labor and other opposition parties have their way.

Outside Parliament, protesters delivered their own verdict on Sunak, a self-confessed "Star Wars geek". With full amplification they played "The Imperial March", Darth Vader's ominous theme.
