Former Argentinian defender Martín Demichelis will leave his role as manager of the Bayern Munich subsidiary to take over his former team River, the German Bundesliga side reported on Monday.
Marcelo Gallardo is leaving River Plate after more than eight years with the Argentinian club he won 14 titles.
Bayern said Demichelis, who enjoyed a trophy-winning spell with the German giants as a player from 2003 to 2010, would be replaced by Holger Seitz.
Demichelis, 41, started his career as a central defender at River Plate in 2001 before moving to Bayern Munich.
"I came to Europe as a player from River to Bayern, now I'm going somewhere else as a coach," said Demichelis. "What an amazing story."
