Paul Merson has U-turned on his top four prediction just six games into the new Premier League season as the pundit tipped Arsenal and Tottenham to secure Champions League football, but remains unconvinced by Manchester United.

Merson has stuck by his claim that Manchester City and Liverpool will finish in the highly-contested places, but has ousted Chelsea as Champions League suitors following their sacking of Thomas Tuchel.

The former Arsenal player also played down United's chances of challenging for a top four finish despite turning around their fortunes under new boss Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils endured a miserable start to the new season, suffering consecutive losses against Brighton and Brentford.

But since then have won four Premier League outings in a row with impressive victories against Liverpool and Arsenal.

The pundit voiced concerns regarding United's squad depth despite the Manchester club spending over £200million in the summer transfer window as Ten Hag revitalised his side.

'It's still early doors, but I think the Premier League top-four this season will be Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in whatever order,' Merson told Sportskeeda.

'Chelsea will obviously have a thing or two to say, but we'll have to wait and see how Potter performs at Stamford Bridge.

'As for Manchester United, I don't think they'll make it because they still have a lot of work to do in terms of their squad.

'They've won four league games in a row, including victories against Liverpool and Arsenal, but I'm yet to be convinced by them.

'Arsenal are good and I believe they are in there for the long run, while I'm still backing Liverpool to turn it around in the coming weeks to secure a UEFA Champions League spot.'

What's your reaction?
