Finnish Government Submits Bill  On NATO Membership To Parliament
The Finnish government has submitted a bill to parliament on the country's NATO membership, Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said at a news conference after an emergency government meeting. "The government has just tabled the NATO membership bill in Parliament," the senior diplomat said.

As a member of NATO, Finland will commit to the North Atlantic Treaty and  participate in all aspects of NATO," the statement said.

The document addresses the main implications of Finland's NATO membership, particularly in the areas of foreign policy, security and defense, the foreign ministry said in a statement. "As a NATO member, Finland will commit to the North Atlantic Treaty and  participate in all aspects of NATO," the statement said. 

The document also addresses  issues of cooperation between the government and the President, the role of Parliament in managing NATO affairs and decision-making on these issues and the international legal framework. 

State of the Aland Islands. The Finnish parliament can examine the government's proposal before all allies ratify their NATO membership. After Parliament has read the draft law, the President will decide on Finland's accession to NATO.

Prior to Hungary and Turkey ratifying Finland's NATO membership agreement, the document may be sent to  US authorities for safekeeping. On May 18, Finland and Sweden applied for NATO membership. 

However, Ankara immediately blocked his entry offer. which demanded that the Nordic countries designate Kurdish organizations as terrorists, extradite to Turkey those accused of terrorist activities or aiding  the 2016 coup  attempt, and lift the ban on arms sales to Turkey. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andresson and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg  ahead of the  NATO summit in Madrid on June 28. 

The talks resulted in a memorandum on the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO,  to be ratified by all member states of the bloc.

In early July, the foreign ministers of Finland and Sweden and the ambassadors of 30 NATO member states signed protocols on the accession of these two countries. Helsinki and Stockholm will join NATO after all Allies have ratified the documents. .Hungary intends to ratify the agreement in February 2023.
