NIGERIAN ARMY RESHUFFLES TOP BRASS, APPOINTS NEW PSOs, GOCs, OTHERS
The recent redeployment has seen significant changes in the leadership roles of Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters (AHQ), General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, Brigade Commanders, and Commanding Officers, among others.

In a strategic move to enhance operational efficiency and streamline administrative functions, the Nigerian Army (NA) has undergone a major reshuffling of its top-ranking officers. Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has approved the posting and appointment of several senior officers across various command, instructional, and staff positions within the NA formations and units.

The recent redeployment has seen significant changes in the leadership roles of Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters (AHQ), General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, Brigade Commanders, and Commanding Officers, among others.

Among the notable appointments are the new PSOs at the AHQ. Major General AB Ibrahim, formerly stationed at Headquarters 3 Division NA, has been assigned to the Department of Policy and Plans (DAPP) and appointed as the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army). Major General BR Sinjen, previously with the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery (NACA), has been transferred to the Department of Army Operations (DAOPs) and designated as the Chief of Operations (Army). Major General OR Aiyenigba, formerly serving in the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police, has been assigned to the Department of Army Standards and Evaluation and appointed as the Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation (Army). Additionally, Major General NC Ugbo has been appointed as the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, following his relocation from the Nigerian Army Signals School to the Department of Civil Military Affairs. Major General E Akerejola has been appointed as the Chief of Logistics (Army) at the Army Headquarters Department of Logistics, having previously served at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport.

The reshuffling also includes the appointment of new General Officers Commanding (GOCs). Major General BA Alabi, formerly stationed at the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN), has been assigned as the GOC of Headquarters 1 Division. Major General AE Abubakar, who previously served at Headquarters 7 Division, has been appointed as the GOC of 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH). Major General PP Mala has been transferred from Depot Nigerian Army to Headquarters 7 Division, where he assumes the role of GOC and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task North East (NE) Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK). Additionally, Major General GU Chibuisi has been posted from HQ Multinational Joint Task Force Ndjamena (MNJTF) to Theatre Command Joint Task Force NE Operation (OPHK), where he has been appointed as the Theatre Commander. Major General IS Ali, previously serving at the Theatre Command Joint Task Force NE OPHK, has been redeployed to HQ MNJTF as the Force Commander. Major General EAP Undiandeye, formerly stationed at the Martin Luther Agwai International Peace Keeping Centre, has now been formally appointed as the Chief of Defence Intelligence at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

Furthermore, several senior officers have been appointed as Corps Commanders. Major General OO Oluyede has been designated as the Commander Infantry Corps, Major General MG Kangye has been transferred from the Department of Civil Military Affairs (DCMA) to Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery and appointed as the Commander, and Major General AA Adeyinka has been reassigned from the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) to Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport as the Commander.

The redeployment has also impacted other senior officers. Major General KO Aligbe has been appointed as the Commander Training and Doctrine Command, Major General JO Ochai has been transferred from Defence Headquarters to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and appointed as the Commandant, and Major General IB Maina has been posted from the Department of Policy and Plans to the Army War College Nigeria, where he assumes the role of Commandant.

Moreover, Brigadier General TB Ugiagbe has been appointed as the Acting Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), Brigadier General OG Onubogu has been transferred from Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre to the Martin Luther Agwai International Peace Keeping Centre as the Commandant, and Brigadier General N Ashinze has been reassigned from the Department of Civil Military Cooperation to the Defence Intelligence Agency as the Director of Fusion. The Nigerian Army has also confirmed the redeployment of Colonel AO Onasanya from the Army War College Nigeria to Headquarters Guards Brigade, where he serves as the Acting Commander.

With this extensive reshuffling of officers, the Nigerian Army aims to strengthen its operational capabilities, optimize its leadership structure, and ensure effective management across various units and formations.
