The European Parliament passes a resolution recognizing Russia as a "state sponsor of terrorism. 

In total, 494 deputies supported the resolution, 58 opposed it and 44 abstained from fighting terrorism,” reads the text of the document published on the website. The session was broadcast live on the European Parliament's website. 

According to the resolution, the European Parliament recognizes Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and as a state that uses terrorist means.

The document alleges that Russia is carrying out "acts of terrorism" against Ukraine. MEPs called for strengthening Moscow's isolation, reducing diplomatic contacts with the country and completing preparatory work on  the ninth package of sanctions against Russia. 

A total of 494 MPs supported the resolution, 58 opposed it and 44 abstained. Resolutions of the European Parliament  are not legally binding and have a recommendation character, but are widely used in the EU media and in the political environment to promote and disseminate 

 specific political positions.
