Nigerian Politics And The Unique Voting Patterns Of The Igbo People
Since after the Nigeria civil war, the Igbo people have consistently demonstrated their unity and critical thinking in their voting patterns. For instance, during the presidential election when MKO Abiola contested, the Igbo-dominated states gave him bulk votes.

When it comes to Nigerian politics, the Igbo people have often been labeled as not being united. However, a closer look at their voting patterns reveals that they are, in fact, united and critical thinkers who vote for the best candidates, not based on tribal bigotry as some try to portray them.

Since after the Nigeria civil war, the Igbo people have consistently demonstrated their unity and critical thinking in their voting patterns. For instance, during the presidential election when MKO Abiola contested, the Igbo-dominated states gave him bulk votes. Likewise, when Chief Olusegun Obasanjo contested in 1999 and 2003, most of his people did not vote for him, but the Igbo people gave him bulk votes.

In 2007, the Igbo people gave the People's Democratic Party (PDP) bulk votes when one of their own sons contested for the presidential election through the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). In 2011 and 2015, they gave President Ebelihi Goodluck Jonathan massive votes.

Before then-current President of Nigeria, President Buhari chose two of their sons as his vice, but they did not vote for him. This is because the Igbo people do not forget and are critical thinkers. They always want to vote for the best candidates in any election.

It's important to note that Peter Obi is not the first Igbo man to run for the Nigerian presidency, but he received overwhelming support because he is one of their best that will not disgrace them on a national level. The Igbo people like to give their best in everything they do. If any political party, whether APC or PDP, gives their ticket to a politician without character from Igbo extraction, they will not vote for him.

The unique voting patterns of the Igbo people demonstrate their unity and critical thinking when it comes to Nigerian politics. Despite being labeled as not being united, they vote for the best candidates and not based on tribal bigotry. Their focus is on what is best for the country, and this is what makes them stand out from the rest of their counterparts in Nigeria.
