Poland On Monday Signed An Agreement With South Korea To Build Four Nuclear Reactors
The MOU signed by Sasin and Korean Energy Minister Lee Chang-Yang will explore the feasibility of building reactors using South Korean technology in Seoul.

Poland on Monday signed an agreement with South Korea to build four nuclear reactors, the country's Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin announced, just days after signing an agreement with the US to build the country's first nuclear power plant .

The MOU signed by Sasin and Korean Energy Minister Lee Chang-Yang  will explore the feasibility of building reactors using South Korean technology in Seoul.

Nuclear energy is safe, clean and environmentally friendly," Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in a Facebook post. Sasin said the "historic" deal would strengthen the country's energy security, which is currently facing severe coal shortages caused in part by sanctions on Russian coal imports.

"State security has many faces, but the most important  is military and energy security," Sasin said, adding that the deal would also help  Poland's "ambition  to build an energy mix based on clean energy" , to fulfill. Sources. The new facility, a government-backed project overseen by a Polish-Korean consortium, will be built in the central Polish city of Konin. The government aims to build three nuclear power plants "in the next few years," Sasin said.

A preliminary development  plan is expected to be ready by the end of this year,  Polish and Korean ministries said. Poland announced on Friday that it had . The energy company Westinghouse will build its first nuclear power plant.
